For this assignment I tried to pick pictures that demonstrated all five elements of design (color, texture, value, line, and shape). My first photo on the black light post is an example of line. Mostly hard line and a little curved line is represented in this photo. Also I had some color representation of red and green. The red in the brick wall and green highlights in the light pole. The next selection is a section of a shutter and siding representing color. The red and green complimenting each other. It also has some texture in the siding in a repeating pattern and in the shutter. There are hard lines too. The next picture is strictly showing texture. The texture from the weathered trim outside on the building. The door shows the element of color. Bold yellow painted on the door.
The glass coy fish shows value. The detail of the shadow and highlight reflecting off the glass are a good example of value.
The final picture is a representing shape. The circular shape found in the stain glass window. I found a lot of inspiration in simple things that represent beautiful elements of design. I want people who look at my pictures to be drawn to the element itself. I tried to represent each element as the focal point of each picture. Line, shape, color, texture, and value can develop into interesting pictures that escape the everyday eye.
